Questions
Cost
Is this a subscription?
No. You pay once to have it built. There is no monthly fee from us. You pay for your own Claude plan and your own hosting.
What does it cost each month?
Nothing to us. Your Claude plan starts at $20 a month and hosting at about $13 a month. Tim's own app costs about $145 a month to run (his estimate). Current prices are on what you need.
What's a tool?
One job in your app, such as a support inbox, purchase orders, invoices or reports. One tool costs $1,650, two cost $2,750, three cost $3,850, and each extra tool is $1,100.
Can I add tools later?
Yes, at any time, priced per tool. You can also change and extend the app yourself with Claude.
How do I pay?
By invoice, after the free demo, and only if you go ahead. There's no payment on the site for the build.
Is it worth it for a small store?
If your apps cost under about $100 a month, probably not. If they cost $200 or more, one app pays back within 12 months (our estimate). The app cost calculator does your sums.
The build
What happens in the demo?
It's a free 30-minute call. Tim shows you Dorris running his store and asks what your store needs. You leave knowing what it would do for you and the price. If it isn't worth it for your store, we'll say so.
How long does the build take?
About a month. You get a date after the demo, once Tim has looked into your store. We don't promise a date on the call.
What do you need from me?
Access to your Shopify store and to the inboxes and tools the app connects to, a list of what you want first, and time for the calls.
Can it work the way my team already works?
That's the point of building it for one store. It's built around your jobs and your rules. Tell us how you work on the demo.
Which apps can it replace?
The ones that show you your own orders, customers and numbers: support inboxes, reports, invoices, purchase orders and similar. Which apps are worth replacing sorts them.
What can't it replace?
Payments and checkout, sales tax, shipping labels tied to your carrier accounts, and product reviews. Keep those with the companies that do them.
After handover
Who fixes it if something breaks?
You do, with Claude doing most of the work. We train you, and answer basic questions by email. There is no maintenance plan. Who fixes a custom Shopify app when it breaks explains what can go wrong.
Do I need to code?
No. You change the app by asking Claude in plain English, and we train you to do that.
Who owns it?
You do. It runs on your hosting, with your data.
Can I change it myself?
Yes. The training call shows you how to change it and build more with Claude.
What happens when Claude's models or prices change?
Your Claude plan is yours, and current prices are on what you need. When a model retires, the app is switched to the newer one. That's a small change.
AI and your data
Where does my data live?
In your Shopify store, in your inboxes, and in your app's own database on your hosting.
Does AI send messages on its own?
Only if you switch that on. We would set it up so AI drafts and you read and send.
Is Dorris part of Shopify or Anthropic?
No. Dorris is not affiliated with Shopify or Anthropic. It uses Claude, which Anthropic makes, to write and run parts of your app.
Is Dorris the same as Dori or Dor?
No. Dorris (getdorris.com) is not Dori (dori.tech) or Dor (getdor.com).
About
Who builds it?
Tim Haines, with Claude. He runs a store on Dorris and doesn't write code himself.
Who answers my messages?
Tim's AI assistants first, and Tim when it needs him. Contact says the same.
