Dorris

The trail

Nine waypoints: four to set up, install Dorris, connect your Shopify store, see your real orders, connect your email, then make it yours, put it online, keep it safe and build the next thing. Read two lines, copy a prompt, come back and stamp it.

  1. 00Before you start

What you'll end up with, what you pay for, how I work, and the two lines to paste when something breaks.

  2. 01Install Dorris

Setup's step 1: run the installer or unzip the kit, create your password, and see the app open on its own Setup page.

  3. 02Connect your Shopify store

Setup's step 2: point the app at your own orders, read-only to start, and learn the two limits that decide what it can actually see.

  4. 03See your real orders

Setup's step 3: type in an order number or a customer's email, and a practice ticket opens with their real order beside it. Then the real thing, when a customer writes.

  5. 04Connect your email

Setup's step 4: save your support mailbox on the Setup page, send yourself a test email, and each customer email turns up in Support by itself, with their order beside it.

  6. 05Make it yours

Change the views, what each row of the list shows and the words on the buttons until the screens stop looking like somebody else's shop.

  7. 06Put it online

Move the app off your laptop to an address you can open on your phone, with every secret on the host and nothing public you have not seen.

  8. 07Keep it safe

Backups you have actually restored, secrets you can replace fast, and the right first move when the live app breaks.

  9. 08Build the next thing

Add a second feature to the app you own without breaking the one that already earns its keep.

Paste this first

Something broke

I just did this: <what you clicked or typed, in a few words>
This is what I got: <paste the error here, or drag in a screenshot>

I don't know what it means. Work out what went wrong and fix it. Then tell me in one plain sentence what was wrong and what you changed, and stop.
