Terms

The terms of sale and the license for Dorris: what you get, refunds, what you may do with the kit and the course, and what I don't promise.

  • Free

These are the terms for buying Dorris, and the license that comes with it. When you buy, you agree to them, so read them first. They're written in plain English so that you will.

Last changed: September 21, 2026.

In short

  • Dorris costs $249, paid once. It isn't a subscription.
  • For 14 days you can have all your money back, no questions asked. A refund ends your license.
  • Use it for yourself and your own business. Change it as much as you like. What you build is yours.
  • Don't resell or publish the kit, the lessons, the Field Manual or the prompts, and don't share them, or your key, outside your business.
  • If setting it up gets stuck, I'll help by email. Beyond setup there's no support, no promise of updates and no promise of results.
  • If something goes wrong, the most I can owe you is what you paid.

The rest of this page is the full terms. Where this summary leaves something out, the full terms are what count.

Who you're buying from

Dorris is sold and licensed by me, Tim Haines. I'm one person, not a company. On this page "I", "me" and "my" mean me, and "you" means the person who buys and the business they buy it for.

Your payment goes through a payment company that acts as the merchant of record: it takes the payment and charges any sales tax or VAT that applies where you are. Its own checkout terms and privacy policy cover the payment. The license to use what you bought comes from me, under these terms.

You need to be 18 or over to buy.

What you get

For one payment (the price shown at checkout):

  • Dorris App. A download holding the source code and documents for a small web app. You run it on your own computer, and later on a hosting account of your own. As shipped, it reads from your own Shopify store and changes nothing in it.
  • The course. The paid pages of getdorris.com, including the lessons, the Field Manual, the Library and the How I work guides.
  • A license key. It opens the paid pages and the download.

What you get is what's there when you buy, plus anything I add while your key works, at no extra cost. I don't promise to add anything. There are no scheduled updates and no roadmap.

I mean to keep the site running, but I can't promise it will always be up, or that it will run forever. If I ever close it for good, I'll put a notice on it at least 30 days beforehand, so you can download the kit and save what you need. Your license to the kit, and to what you've built with it, doesn't depend on the site.

What isn't included

Setup help, and nothing past it. If setting up the kit gets stuck, write to me on the contact page and I'll help you get it running. That's help by email, for setup, while your license is active. It isn't a promise of how quickly I'll answer or that every computer or store will work. Beyond setup there's no help desk and nobody on call: when something breaks, it's you and your AI agent, and Something broke is the place to start. The contact page is also for refunds, questions about these terms and privacy requests.

Other companies' bills. The kit relies on services you buy from other companies: a paid plan for your AI agent, hosting and a database once you put the app online, and your Shopify plan. Those are between you and them. They set their own prices, and nobody here can refund them. What this costs today lists them.

Results. Figures on this site about my own business, such as what my software replaced and what it costs me to run, describe my business. They're not a promise about yours. I don't promise that you'll finish the course, that your app will do what your business needs, or that it will save you money.

Refunds

For 14 days after you buy, you can have all your money back. You don't have to give a reason.

Ask on the contact page, giving the email address you bought with, within 14 days of buying. What counts is when you ask, not when I get to it. I refund it through the payment company, and the money goes back the way it came.

When the refund goes through, your key stops working on its own, the paid pages close to you, the download stops downloading, and your license ends as described below. Refunds says the same thing in fewer words.

After 14 days there are no refunds, except where the law requires one.

If you're a consumer in the UK or the EU, the law gives you 14 days to cancel most things you buy online, though for digital content that right can end once you start downloading or using it. My refund doesn't end that way. It lasts the full 14 days whether or not you've downloaded anything.

Please ask me before you dispute the charge with your bank: a refund is quicker for both of us. A payment that's reversed through your bank counts as a refund under these terms.

Other products

Besides Dorris, this site sells smaller products, such as the Reply recipes pack and the App stack audit worksheet. These terms cover them too, except the parts about a license key and the paid pages, which only Dorris has. Each one is files you download from your receipt email.

They have the same 14-day no-questions refund, asked for the same way on the contact page. A refund ends your right to use the files: delete them and don't keep using them.

Your license

When you buy, I give you a license to use the kit and the course. It's non-exclusive, which means other people buy the same license. It doesn't expire, and you can't sell or transfer it to anyone else. The kit, the lessons, the Field Manual, the prompts and the rest remain mine. You're buying the right to use them, not ownership of them.

What you may do

  • Use the kit and the course for yourself and your own business, meaning a business you own or work in. If you own or run more than one, you may use them in each.
  • Change the kit however you like: rename it, restyle it, add tools, take out what you don't want.
  • Keep copies wherever your work needs them: your own computers, a private code repository, your hosting account and your backups.
  • Give the kit's files and the prompts to your own AI agent. That's what they're for.
  • Let the people who work for your business, staff or contractors, use the app you build and work on it for your business. They can't keep or use the kit for anyone else.
  • Save or print pages of the course for your own reference.
  • Link to any page on this site, and quote a few lines with a link back.

What you learn is yours to use however you like. These limits are about the materials themselves.

What you may not do

  • Sell, resell, rent, lend, sublicense or give away the kit, the lessons, the Field Manual, the prompts, the Library or the guides, in whole or in part, changed or unchanged.
  • Publish them. A public code repository counts, and so does reposting a lesson or a prompt, or putting the download anywhere other people can reach it.
  • Share your license key, or the download, with anyone outside your business.
  • Use them to build software for other businesses, whether as a freelancer, as an agency or as a product you sell.
  • Use them to make a course, kit or template that competes with this one.
  • Try to get around the license key, or into the paid pages without one.

If you want to do something these terms don't allow, ask me first on the contact page.

What you build is yours

The code you and your agent add, your data, your settings and your rules are yours. I claim no rights in them, and I never see them: nothing in the kit reports back to me or checks your key. The parts of the kit that stay inside your app remain covered by this license, which lets you keep using them there for as long as your license lasts.

Other people's code

The kit is built on open-source packages that are downloaded when you set it up. Each one comes with its own license, and nothing in these terms changes those licenses.

When your license ends

Your license ends:

  • when a refund goes through, or a payment is reversed; or
  • if you break these terms, for example by sharing your key or publishing the kit, and I tell you by email that I'm ending it.

When it ends, your key stops working. Stop using the kit, the course and anything you downloaded, including an app built from the kit, and delete your copies. Anything you made yourself that contains none of the kit or the course stays yours.

The sections on warranty, liability, claims and disputes still apply after your license ends.

Your app is your responsibility

The app runs on your computers and your accounts, with your store and your customers' data in it. Your AI agent writes code I've never seen, and you decide what runs. So you're responsible for:

  • reading what your agent proposes before you accept it, and testing changes before you rely on them;
  • your backups, your passwords and your keys;
  • what you send your customers;
  • following the laws that apply to your business, including privacy law for your customers' data;
  • keeping to the terms of every service you connect, such as Shopify, your host and your AI agent.

The kit arrives read-only against Shopify, and as it arrives it sends no email. If you or your agent change either, what follows is your responsibility.

No warranty

The kit, the course and everything else I sell here are provided as they are, with any faults they have. I don't promise they'll work for you, suit your business, be free of errors or security problems, or keep working when other companies change their services.

To the extent the law allows, I give no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement.

If you're a consumer, the law where you live may give you rights that no contract can take away, such as a right to digital content that matches its description. Nothing in these terms takes those away.

Limit of liability

If something goes wrong and I'm responsible, the most I'll owe you, in total, for everything to do with Dorris, is what you paid for it.

I'm not responsible for indirect or knock-on losses: lost profits, revenue, sales, data, customers, goodwill or time, business interruption, or the cost of repairing or replacing your systems. That holds even if I was told such a loss was possible.

Some things can't be limited by law, such as liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and these terms don't try to limit them. If the law where you live doesn't allow one of the limits above, it applies only as far as the law allows.

If someone makes a claim against me

If you use Dorris in a business and someone, one of your customers for example, makes a claim against me because of your app or the way you used what you bought, you'll cover my reasonable costs of dealing with it, including legal fees. This doesn't cover anything I caused by breaking these terms. If you're a consumer, it applies only as far as the law where you live allows.

Other companies

Dorris works with services from other companies: your AI agent, Shopify, your host and anything else you connect. You buy those from them, under their terms. They can change their prices, limits, plans and the way their services work at any time, and a change can break something or cost you more. That's outside my control, and I'm not responsible for it.

Dorris is independent. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Anthropic, Shopify, Render or any other company this site names. The payment company's only part is taking your payment. Product names belong to their owners and appear here only to say what the kit works with.

Changes to these terms

I may update these terms, and the date at the top will say when. An update never takes away what you already bought: the license you got stays as it was, unless a change only gives you more, or the law requires it. Updated terms apply to purchases made after the update.

Everything else

  • These terms, the privacy policy and the license file that comes with the kit are the whole agreement between us about Dorris. If anything else, including the sales page or the license file, seems to say something different, these terms win.
  • If a court decides part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • If I don't enforce part of these terms straight away, I haven't given up the right to.
  • You can't transfer your license. I may transfer these terms to a company I set up, or to whoever takes over Dorris, and that won't reduce your rights under them.
  • If you send me ideas or suggestions, I may use them without owing you anything.
  • You may not buy or use Dorris where US law forbids it, for example from a country under US sanctions.

Governing law and disputes

If something goes wrong, write to me first on the contact page. Most things can be sorted out that way. If we can't settle it within 30 days, either of us can take it further.

These terms are governed by the law of the US state where I live, and by US federal law where it applies, leaving aside any rule that would point to another place's law.

If you're a consumer, you also keep the protection of the laws where you live that can't be signed away, and you can bring a claim in the courts there.

Contact

The contact page, for refunds, questions about these terms, privacy requests, and asking permission for anything the license doesn't cover. It isn't a help desk.
