Word

Read-only

Read-only is permission to look at something without permission to change it.

Also called: read only access

The starter's link to your store starts read-only: it pulls an order and a tracking number, and nothing in its code edits, refunds, or cancels anything. More is yours to grant later, one decision at a time.

You'll meet the term the first time you wonder whether letting software you barely understand near a live store is sensible.

People read it as a limitation. It's the feature. Read-only is what makes the frightening part boring, the worst a bug can do is show you something wrong on your own screen.

Paste this first

Something broke

I just did this: <what you clicked or typed, in a few words>
This is what I got: <paste the error here, or drag in a screenshot>

I don't know what it means. Work out what went wrong and fix it. Then tell me in one plain sentence what was wrong and what you changed, and stop.
