Roll back

To roll back is to put the previous working version of your app back in front of customers, before anyone has worked out what went wrong.

Also called: rollback, revert, put the last version back

It fixes nothing, and it's not meant to. It buys you a quiet afternoon instead of an audience.

You'll meet it during your first bad hour, when the instinct is to diagnose first. Stop the damage, then find out why, with nobody watching.

The limit worth knowing: a roll back returns the code, not the world. A change that altered what the app stores, or an email that's already gone out, doesn't come back with it.

Something broke

I just did this: <what you clicked or typed, in a few words>
This is what I got: <paste the error here, or drag in a screenshot>

I don't know what it means. Work out what went wrong and fix it. Then tell me in one plain sentence what was wrong and what you changed, and stop.
