00 How I work
Why we built it
We run a tent company and don't write code. We asked an AI to build the software we were renting, one tool at a time.
- Free
I run a tent company and I don't write code. Since April, my business has run on software I directed an AI to build, one request at a time.
The day I pressed "cancel subscription" on a $600-a-month tool I was barely using, and replaced it with something that cost me under $60 a month to run. That's when the floodgates opened.
It started with a hire. We were bringing on a new customer service person, and the hardest part of training someone is all the questions: what's our policy on this, what do we say to that. I wanted one place they could look it up instead of asking me. Then I saw it could do a lot more, and now it runs the business.
What it grew into
I asked for each tool in plain English, one at a time:
- A support inbox. It replaced a $6,000-a-year helpdesk.
- A purchase-order tracker, built in under a day. Our supply chain manager: "This thing is better than any paid software I've used."
- Sales, straight into Google Sheets. It replaced a $400-a-month tool.
- Every number in one place, with Shopify beside our other channels.
- Warranty claims, shipping claims, invoicing and a wholesale portal.
By my own count, that is $4,000 a month of software I stopped paying for, and about $145 a month to run all of it. Those are my numbers from my shop, not a promise of yours. The list behind them, tool by tool, and what running a store this way looks like.
