You can build your own Shopify tools with ChatGPT or Claude and no kit. I did, and it took me about three months. The kit doesn't replace the AI; it is the working support inbox, the safe Shopify connection and the prompts I wish I'd started with. If you're comfortable experimenting for weeks, you don't need it.
What you'd be working out on your own
- What to build first. A blank chat gives you a blank page. Starting with a support inbox that shows each customer's order beside their email is a choice that worked; I made it after wrong turns.
- How to connect your store safely. The kit's Shopify connection starts read-only, so the app looks at your orders and changes nothing.
- What to tell the AI so it stops guessing. A rules file, written for you, that keeps the agent inside the app you have.
- What to do when it breaks. A page of the usual problems and the exact text to paste for each.
If your agent drafts customer replies, the reply recipes include a rules section meant to stop it guessing order facts.
What the kit does not do
It doesn't swap in for the AI plan: you still pay for your own, and the lessons use Claude. It isn't done-for-you, and after setup there's no support desk beyond the contact page.
When to skip it
If you enjoy learning by trial and error, have a few months, and the cost of waiting is small, do it yourself. If you already write software, this isn't for you. If you pay for several apps and want to start this week, see why pay and what my own store paid. There is a 14-day no-questions refund if it turns out not to fit.
Want it built for you? Book a demo. Or build it yourself: the kit.
